This last number's cover story features two Madridistas: David Beckham, who made his 100th appearance in the Champions League against Steaua Bucharest, and Ruud Van Nistelrooy, who scored his 50th goal in the aforementioned competition. It was a mark of the quality of the goal that opposition fans stood to applaud. Having been dazzled by Real Madrid CF as a team on their first visit to the Steaua Stadium, Ruud van Nistelrooy gave the 25,000 crowd a moment of individual brilliance to remember the occasion. Shielding the ball under pressure from Dorin Goian after being played in on the right side of area, the Dutchman chipped delicately over the advancing goalkeeper. Carlos Fernandes, lobbed like a tennis player at the net, looked on in anguish as the ball looped high above him before dropping down just over the line.
